Continuing from my last article, the carol “Joy to the World, the Lord Has Come!” exalts, in its fourth stanza:
He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love.And wonders of His love,
And wonders, and wonders of His love!
In my rather lengthy article “Two Goats Together,” I labored to explain that the festival Day of Atonement is not a celebration of Christ putting away Satan from human society. Rather, it is a celebration of Christ’s atoning love, which He will extend to the rest of mankind whom God has not called to salvation (unlike the “elect” or Church of God) in this present age, beginning with mortals who will survive the destruction at Christ’s “second coming.”
Christ’s loving rule over all the earth is likened to a “wedding feast” – a sumptuous banquet – when Christ (the “Lamb of God”) as the Bridegroom celebrates His wedding to His “Bride” – the glorified Church/Israel of God (Matthew 22:1-14; Revelation 19:9).
Christ’s rule over all the earth with His “Bride” will be so filled with love that many more – perhaps millions more – “children of God” [human beings brought into the divine, glorious family of God as His begotten “children”] will be the “fruit” or outcome!
What wondrous love indeed!
